Kompani Linge

The theatre group Kompani Linge has put together a production called See me so that I may dream. This is a play concerning dreams and hopes, and all the things every human have in common; regardless of their gender, ethnicity and cultural or social background. We will perform the play in the Middle East from May 15th through May 30th. Once finished, we will return to show it in Norway from June 1st through June 20th, particularly aiming at a young audience. We also intend to hold lectures about our visit to the Middle East, and workshops where the participants can engage in acrobatics, juggling, tissue climbing, and physical theatre games.

During the visit to the Middle East, we will be working at The Freedom Theatre situated in a refugee camp in Jenin on the West Bank. The group we will be working with consists of young people aged between 17 and 23, who have never seen the outside of the camp.

Peace through Youth & Theatre

One of the objectives of the visit to the Middle East is to establish contact with actors and theatre workers in Israel and Palestine. Following the visit and the performances in Norway, we will found the organisation Peace through Youth & Theatre (PYT). The vision of the organisation is cooperation and student exchange between theatres across borders. The cooperation will lead to peaceful intervention among people with different religious and political views, and influence young peoples attitudes towards conflict and disagreement.We believe we can achieve this making theatre on a high level and having fun together.
 
The PYT will arrange the following activities:

  • International theatre festivals for young people.
  • A number of stage productions with the participants.
  • Membership networking for international cooperation.
  • Fundraising to support and finance stage productions and touring these productions between the member groups.
