I think the idea behind the Oslo Award, and the potential impact it may have, is important and inspiring. Nobel Laureate He Kofi A. Annan

Collaboration with ICC

The Foundation has entered into an important collaboration with the International Chambers of Commerce. This worldwide organization, with chapters in 12.000 cities around the world, was founded in order to demonstrate the strong interrelationship between Trade and Peace.
The preamble of the Constitution of ICC begins with this paragraph:

“The fundamental objective of the International Chambers of Commerce, founded in 1919, is to further the development of an open world economy with the firm conviction that international commercial exchanges are conducive to both greater global prosperity and peace among nations.”

Through our collaboration, we will search the world for businesspersons who by their examples are demonstrating that ethical business practices can promote stability and peace among nations and cultures.

As we enter the third year of the Oslo Business for Peace Award, ICC and local chambers of commerce will be assisting in the global nomination process. Local chapters will be searching for outstanding business people who have been able to achieve material business success while acting in an ethically responsible manner. The aim of the global nomination process is to accelerate the development of ethical business practices through increasing awareness of the strengths of the ethical business case. The vision is to inspire and encourage business people to foster peace and stability to the benefit of humanity.

As a Supporting Partner, ICC will significantly widen the impact of the foundation’s initiative, ensuring a credible global reach which is invaluable. Local ICC chapters will apply their unique knowledge of businesses in their areas, as they consider nominees against the criteria for the Oslo Business for Peace Award.
